Are you letting WinXP use the drivers that the samba server sends to
it or are you using drivers from the original cd that came with the
printer? I have to admit that I'm not sure which one would be better
to use in this case but until someone hops on the list with exact
knowledge you might try switching drivers on the WinXP computer.

Also, have you done any searching on the samba mailing lists for this
problem? I ask because it doesn't sound very Ubuntu specific and they
might also be able to help (or might have already solved the problem).
