That is very well put indeed. I've lost count of the number of times I've
had to go back and resend mail to the list after sending it just to the
original author.
I also can't see any utility in receiving a personal reply as well as a
list one to something I posted to a list that I am subscribed to, which is
the result of using reply to all. (If I do need a personal off list reply,
I make that clear in the original post.)
Every other list I subscribe to uses reply to list as default. I then just
choose whether to reply on list, where everyone including the original
poster should see it, or off list if I think what I have to contribute is
only of interest to the original poster.
I know this stirs strongly held opinions, but why would this be the wrong
way to do things? Answer to be as brief and logical as the quote from
ROMeyn at the head of the email please...
