I vote for that !!! :-)
When I installed 'scream' (web page editor), somehow Gnomr decided that
every TEXT file should start scream !!! Horror.
I went into Gnome 'prefered apps' to tell him that I wanted Gedit as
default text editor, but scream is still launched by default ! Gedit is
now present if I reight click on a text file, but scream is still at the
top of the list, as the default choice ! :o(
I haver since re-installed Ubuntu, and I didn't install scream precisely
for fear that I would run into the same problem again.
I installed 'bluefish' instead, and it seems to behave properly, it
didn't mess up Gnome's defaults for opening text
files, .txt, .ini., .conf etc files.
Basically Gnomes MIME types is great, recognizes so many different file
types with lovely icons, but when you install a program and things
break, it's a nighmare to get it back into shape. There ought to be a
very clear/simple/straightforward tool, to tell him what programs can
open a givne type, and what is the default program.

I vote for that too ! File name problems really get on my nerves, it
really keeps Ubuntu from looking as "polished" as it ought/could/should
be. :-/ But it seems this will be improved in Hoary ?

When I go away, I just press the big button to turn the monitor off, it
always work, very reliable ! ;o)
I guess flat screens are the answer, much lower energy consumption, and
fast recovery time when turned back on, unlike CRT's that take a while
to "warm-up" again.
But until flat screen have a decent quality picture, and solve the
problem the "dead pixels" issues, I am not even remotely considering of
letting my CRT go ! So it won't be before a few years I would guess.
