Compaq Presario 2199US (2100) problem

Hi,

I wrote several weeks ago about my laptop problem with Ubuntu: basically
the battery drains in 45 min. to hour when running Ubuntu on it. In
Windows XP it lasts at least 2 hours, if not more.

Also, I am unable to send the system to hibernation or stand-by. It
looks like it is working (falls asleep) but when I try to wake it up, it
basically has the black screen and nothing seems to work until a reboot.
Nothing gets logged in /var/log/messages

Any suggestions?

Also , there is a third problem. The touchpad is so sensitive
and fast, it is easy to click on something just by looking at the touchpad :)
(and yes, I have the mouse speed set to slowest and sensitivity to
least). This problem gets cured by rmmod psmouse and then modprobe psmouse. But after this the double-click
on the touchpad doesn't work and I have to use the mouse buttons.
