Ubuntu KDE

What about applications like Rosegarden4 or Brahms. I'm looking for
audio / sequencing / notation software and have tried both of those
since installing Ubuntu, without much success. The packages are there
(at least in the multiverse) but haven't run smoothly. I haven't done
much searching to find out if there are easy fixes but I would be
interested if someone could point me in the right direction (either for
ways to get them working or Gnome-friendly alternatives).

And all that's to say that I can see some value in making Ubuntu
include a bit more KDE. I really like it but I also want to be able to
tap into the functionality of some of the packages I've read about.
