True Type Fonts

I tried copying across fonts from my WinXP partition to
-/usr/share/fonts/truetype/winxpfonts- this morning (that seemed to be
the way other collections of tt fonts had been added there) and then
ran -sudo fc-cache-. When I came back to the machine later in the day I
hit problems with both Thunderbird and Firefox, for which the solution
seemed to be to remove the new directory and repeat the -fc-cache-
command.

I suspect the problem was something to do with duplicate fonts, as I
installed the msttcorefonts package over the weekend. Therefore, I'd
suggest caution if any of the fonts you're adding are already found on
your system. I'm going to try again but this time I'm going to delete
the duplicates first!

Be careful out there! If I hadn't remembered the steps I'd taken this
morning (-history- is your friend) I might have got very upset!
