newbie: login with no password. Help!

Sanibona** ubuntu-users!

Your combined advice sorted the problem for me!  recovery - shadow 
(interesting but no user - my Esc key action meant that I was not a user 
in the first place) - adduser got me in and on.  I now have a working 
ubuntu partition and soon a working ubuntu workstation.
