SATA drive not seen during boot up.

 I don't know SATA stuff, because I'm still running IDE, but when it comes
to have important stuff in kernel from begining, I just compile it into
kernel and not as module. I do that with my filesystems and HW drivers.

 You could do a new startup script, too. He should run before fsck.
