How stable is hoary, really?

I read this excellent how-to, added the hoary repositories to my 
sources.list and installed apt-show-versions.  Now will I have problems 
with just an update all?  To be more clear will an overall update select 
hoary updates that I may not want?  Can I still use synaptic?
