Editor can't edit

thats exactly what my startup settings tool does...
it is ran with gksudo and modifies the values for timeout and default in
the menu.lst (...only this two).

so i dont really understand the issue here, why shouldnt a tool with
root privileges not be able to edit a root owned file ?
it works for at least 50 users from which i recieved positive feedback
(even there were more downloads already).
