*:-{* I.m able to edit ubuntu by running knoppix and using its editor
to edit ubunto. I have some aliases in knoppix
that let me access and edit other Linuxes and Windows that are
installed.. This is the only way I'm abke to edit anything in ubuntu.
My ubuntu has a lot of locked files which I can't edit from ubuntu but
I can edit any of them from knoppix.. Those aliases are very useful,
especially if you have multiple operating systems in your computer.
I purposely set the timeout in ubuntu's menu.lst to 2 seconds and
made Windows XP the autoboot default because. I have some
great-grand kids (3 to 6 yrs) who like to play with my computer when
they visit so if they turn on the computer, they won't have time to
figure out the boot menu. Sometimes, even I miss. but I want to keep
that 2 second timeout.
