Oooh, that hurt!

Seriously though, it's not just KDE that drives me nuts. There are a
lot of OSS names that aren't exactly very informative -- and, given
that I often try/find apps based on their names, it does leave out
some very important meta-information that the name could contain

When you think about the really successful big-name apps, by-and-large
their names do have _strong_ ties to their functions: MS Office,
PhotoShop, Flash, PageMaker (defunct now?), Internet Explorer,
Netscape Navigator (not quite as intuitive as IE, but not bad), MySQL
(of course, this requires you to know what SQL is but it's still a
good name). And, then you've got the likes of Apache, FireFox, Quark
Xpress, Acrobat, GIMP (if you know what the acronym stands for it's
alright... but, how many people could rhyme that one off)... huh?
