...there is a way of using MySQL or Postgres from OpenOffice.org.  They 
don't publicise
it much and in truth it is a touch buggy with MySQL but it can be made to 
work.  Basically
look for Tools>Data Sources and much may be revealed.

Having said that, I've stuck to my old Paradox database because life 
sometimes feels too short
for the disruption of system changes.  I fear that I'll have to look again 
as I don't feel confident
that Paradox will be properly supported for much longer.

Which brings me to the possible good news;  a post I saw today on another 
list suggested
that OpenOffice.org 2 will have an explicit database front-end rather than 
tucking it away down
a menu tree.  If this is true I'm very interested indeed;  I'm migrating 
all my other admin to
OO.o (including my Quattro Pro spreadsheets) so it would be good to do the lot.
