First, don't worry about it. Your system is trying to check the exact time
and date with a server on the internet, but isn't connected yet. No damage
is done or problems caused by this. It looks a bit ugly and may take a few
seconds, but no harm is done to your system.
Second, there is information about how to stop it in a recent thread
(today) on this list, "Re: avoid syncronising clock and how to dial-up".
