At first...there was the Ubuntu Bi-LoCo team meetup between the Florida and Georgia teams after the Florida Linux Show...

So that was my attempt at a movie trailer intro. I tried :)

I popped into the North Carolina team meeting tonight and Amber Graner (akgraner) was talking about the upcoming Atlanta Linux Fest http://atlantalinuxfest.org/ on September 19, 2009 and I presented an idea about getting LoCo teams in the South East together while there. This came about after I realized how great an opportunity it was to meet up and engage with several members of other LoCos like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, DC and Georgia while at the South East Linux Fest http://southeastlinuxfest.org/on June 13, 2009. Amber made this all the better at the South East Linux Fest by bringing those teams together for a few BOF (Birds of a Feather) sessions which mostly consisted of improving LoCo teams. Amber and I were excited at the mention of getting LoCo teams together again in some capacity at the Atlanta Linux Fest.

I wanted to send out an email to the US LoCo teams to see if anybody else would be interested and get some ideas floating about what we could all do together at the Atlanta Linux Fest. It really doesn't have to be South East LoCo teams the idea just stuck after the South East Linux Fest brought together members from that region. I do know already that LoCo teams like Georgia, Florida (tooting my own horn) and North Carolina will be attending the Atlanta Linux Fest.

My first thought was to get LoCo teams signed on for BOF sessions that are LoCo-centric. If a booth was available LoCo teams could be there to represent Ubuntu support within their state to business, user, etc. attendees. Amber suggested getting banner made to display with all of the LoCo teams that would be participating.

These are just a few of the ideas that Amber and I thought of. Your ideas and/or help are welcome.

Thanks,
