I'm in a sort of remote location and don't get out much. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx). Started with version 5 awhile back when I still ran Win2k. Got so fed up with it (Windoze), I decided to go all Linux and went to ubuntu 8.04 LTS to replace Win2k. Miss the applications that are available for Win32 systems, but I don't miss the operating system at all. In fact I downloaded a lot of Win32 ported app's, installed and ran them only to find the same ones for Debian Linux. And free at that since quite a few were at a cost for the porting to Win32 when the source was compiled for Linux at no cost to the user. Self teaching CS on a home PC is the way I got going. My first was a Commodore 64 (not a PC) but what an intro to home computing. Gaming until exhausted. Then doing it again. Next was a Dell 486DX running Win95 16 bit. Then a 32 bit upgrade, then Win98 and an upgrade, then Win2k. Never went to XP and don't regret it. I still have an MSN Live Passport for IM on my Ubuntu system. Anyway glad you wrote 'cause WV has a very small population of Linux Ubuntu users as far as I know. You are the first since I even knew anything about such a group. Most PC users around here are Windoase (!) users as that's usually what one gets with a new one. Some Mac users, but the rest are cell phoneers. So, anything I can help you with, scoot me an email and I'll try to help from my few years of experience with Linux Ubuntu. Happy Computing!
