I'm not an Evolution user, but I bet I could answer that question:

  * It integrates tightly with the GNOME desktop.
  * It has the best Outlook PIM-like functionality of any GNU/Linux
    desktop MUA.
  * It's standards-compliant.
  * It's highly configurable.
  * It's not slow and gigantic- it's actually 1/8 the size of
    Thunderbird.
