agree w/ Aaron - and maybe another reason tenure needs to be abolished :)
meanwhile the absence of build-essential and vim on the install disk
make it brutal to try to fix a laptop whose wireless does not work w/o a
plug in network connection. And since an "install" disk is "supposed"
to get the system installed - it's really frustrating that Ubuntu
chooses not to include these valuable install tools in lieu of apps w/
bloated libs that very few really use (and there are far more compact
replacements ie gnote instead of tom-boy)... It's much easier to flash
drive a tarred driver over that can be compiled than to try to flash
over build-essential dependencies.
