[ubuntu-us-ut] How to *NOT* sell Linux

I have to agree with this article. While I hate windows (I am now out
of the software business because of it) and have worked with linux and
UNIX for over 20 years. It is just not mainstream. Active directory/
windows server (IE the virus of the day) has slammed the door on us.
One look at a windows session with RDP to a windows server running
quickbooks and linux is out and commercial operations are going to
MS. Spare me all the words about how much Linux is out there.
Windows server/active directory/SQL server are pervasive. Don't throw
rocks at me I'm just the messenger. Think I am wrong then look at MS
revenue 50,000,000,000.00 in revenue is a fact. Remember I hate it
too and refuse to work on it! SUN, Novell, they are both dead. If
you can make your living on Linux, that's great and I am happy for you
but the bulk of IS pros are stuck on windows. Re-image the client
every 3 months. What a joke but, it's a 50 billion dollar joke. So,
who's laughing at who?
There is a lot which needs to happen and Geeks just will not listen.
Vi the /etc/config/upsidedown file is not cutting it.
Being faced with working on windows networks I called it quits. There
are just not enough UNIX/Linux jobs out there and I am tired of trying
to convince Geeks to face the issues of real users. I couldn't even
get non-profit groups to use it. They would rather use illegal
windows installations and I would not support that.
Please don't take offense to this but, try to think like a non-IS
person and a business person who needs to hire support people.
