what we have:

Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2895) motherboard
2 AMD Opteron processors
2 x 1GB PC3200 RAM
4 x 512MB PC3200 RAM
the most current list i have for hardware needs is as follows:

1. THE case. http://tinyurl.com/2qgtw6 this will be the optimal solution for
our needs.
2. up to 4 hard drives. this machine can take IDE, SATA, and SCSI drives.
anything will get us going.
3. a slim DVD burner. this will be optimal for our optical drive AND backup
needs.
4. we still have 2 empty slots for RAM on this machine. it takes PC3200 RAM.
2x1GB would be nice but anything would help.
5. we need CPU coolers for a 1U solution. these processors are in socket
940.
6. (optional) a slim floppy drive. just in case we need to do any hardware
raid setup at all. i'm sure someone has one laying around. (i may even have
one)

so with that stated/restated, any little bit helps. hopefully soon we will
have a solution for being able to donate to the case fund. i'm not sure how
that will be taken care of (anyone know?).
