[ubuntu-us-ut] Kernel Debugging in 7.10

How does one debug kernel code under 7.10? Googling turned up nothing
useful, and the Ubuntu web site looked useless.

I installed linux-image-debug-generic. As far as I can tell, all I
got was a 57 Mb file in /root which isn't a kernel, and no docs. Is
that package good for anything?

Thanks
