Job Title: 	Senior Programmer

Salary Range: 	$50000.00 	
		

	Responsibilities: Develop or improve software programs, tools, and
applications to maximize use of the library's digital asset management
software, CONTENTdm. Provide support for Tomcat server; troubleshoot
system problems and code repair and refactoring; investigate vendor
system defects and provides input on code fixes and alternative
solutions. Follow industry recommendations and department programming
standards to ensure code efficiency.

Test applications and follow department version control and code
promotion guidelines. Attend team meetings, and communicate (verbally
and in writing) programming issues to appropriate staff and customers.
Reporting to the Head of Application Development, the Sr. Programmer
primarily develops software applications with potential commercial or
open source distribution. The focus of this position is on creative
software development that will benefit the library, university, and the
library profession. The Senior Programmer performs technical planning,
development, integration, verification and validation, and supports
software tools and applications. Collaborates with colleagues in the
Information Technology department and other library departments, as well
as works directly with vendors as directed by the Head of Application
Development.

Demonstrated experience in software development, particularly in the
area of web development (e.g. J2EE, PHP, Perl, ASP.NET and Tomcat
server) and application development (Java, VC++, .NET), experience with
SML and XSL, and interfacing with relational databases such as MS SQL
and MySQL. Candidate should be comfortable with programming for Windows
and Linux environments.
	
Qualifications
	2-4 years application or systems programming experience. Demonstrated
ability to code in programming or scripting languages, including Java,
XML, or Perl. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork
skills. Highly motivated individual who pays attention to detail. Must
be capable of working on multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
	
Preferences
	Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field.
Experience in an academic environment.
	Work Schedule
	Full-time, 40 hours per week, M-F 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm.
