I am having some ACPI issues and in the course of trying to figure out these issues I came a bug where Ubuntu default power settings seem to be causing frequent load cylces on the hard drive. I put Ubuntu on my brand new no-os laptop about nine months ago and I already have over 200,000 load cycles on my HDD.

Also I am having DSDT problems which I am trying to resolve with the following guides. Are there some better instructions I could be following specific
 for Ubuntu?

Thanks,
