or, the way I always install flash is:

1) visit a flash intensive site and let FF do it
2) add seveas repository (deb http://mirrors.ubuntulinux.nl/ubuntu
feisty-seveas all), aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree

...as far as the NTFS.  Do you need it NTFS?  Does the NTFS with fuse
not work for you?  If its just central storage maybe use FAT?
