[ubuntu-us-ut] MP3 player advice

While on this subject, I'm looking for a player that can also record so 
I can do some dictation into .mp3 files and then xfer them to my ubuntu 
machine.  Will, does the Zen automatically connect with Ubuntu showing 
up like a flash drive ?  I saw that a SanDisk model that records to mp3 
but no idea of how compatible it is to Linux.
