[ubuntu-us-ut] The Ubuntu Code of Conduct

Team,
I feel that I need to remind some members of the team about the Ubuntu
Code of Conduct as outlined here
(http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct). For those of you that are
not familiar with it please take a second and give it a read. It just
takes a few minutes to read and, I think, is primarily one of the things
that sets the Ubuntu community apart from others.
While violations by members of the team have been comparatively small
there have been a number of complaints of late about an uncomfortable
meeting atmosphere. While I don't want everything to turn into a
"politically correct" party, I do want new attendees to feel comfortable
and for regular contributors to keep the Code of Conduct in mind while
in the "Ubuntu-sphere". This means in-person meetings, IRC, this
mailing list, etc.
Sadly, as mentioned above, I have had to deal recently with new and old
members telling me they will no longer be attending our meetings based
on the atmosphere that has been there recently. I am really
disappointed to hear that and almost ashamed to be part of a group that
would create such an uninviting atmosphere.
I hope we can improve on what we have let slip recently and I hope
everyone takes a minute to read the Ubuntu Code of Conduct. If you
would like to sign it, which is suggested, you can use your GPG (for
those in attendance at the meeting) and publicly sign it.
If anyone has any questions or concerns about this matter please email
me off-list. If everyone could simply review the Code of Conduct and
adjust any behavior accordingly I, and others, would very much
appreciate it.
Thank You,
--
