Just a notes on those notes:

The instructions have only been followed 3 or 4 times so they may have
bugs. They assume that you're doing a full install of Ubuntu (ie. on
an external USB hard drive) so you'll need enough space for it. I
think a full install is just about 2 Gigs (plus swap space!). If
you've got a 3 or 4 Gb flash drive, it'd work fine.

Also note that your computer must support USB booting.
