x server

Hi,

	hope you can help. I changed my graphics card and now X server will not  
start. I tries to fix this using /etc/X11/xorg.conf but I need to log in  
as root to do this (I think). I've been able to log in as root on other  
distributions, but I can't seem to do this using Ubuntu. Can someone  
please tell me how to configure X server?
