Thanks for writing. If you wanna get started, I recommend The Official
Ubuntu Book, 9th edition. Unfortunately I won't have any copies myself, but
it's available on Amazon. It should guide you through all the basics.

If you still have any questions after going through the book, feel free to
write to the mailing list, or ask us personally at OSCON. We'll do our best
to help you!
