Dan,
I worked at restoring desk tops for youth in and out of the Church for a
number of years and, silly as it was I refused to restore any lap tops
because they would be so hard to work on. Then one company donated
their entire System, Server, 7 desktops with flat screens and seven
laptops if I would wipe the data.

Of course I used the free DBAN and cleaned all of them without much
effort, they avoided a $1500 charge and fifteen young people received
computers with the key board and mouse being all we purchased.

These laptops were HP units and two needed a hard drive, and I had spare
2.5 units. I found all the info on the web and on every unit since it
is usually two screws to remove and two to four to unmount from the
slide. Just be sure to purchase a magnetic 00 guage Phillips and you
will be good to go.
