What do you want from the tx loco?

At the last Ubuntu meeting, 6/23/10, Jonny Nguyen and I were the only
attendants. For me it was one of the most beneficial I have attended. We
talked about programming and I got a lot of useful information, and I was
programming before he was born. That is community.
I am working on a web based project and have received a lot of help from
this group by simply asking questions. That is community.
I have successfully tested my project on Amazon Web Services. Just getting
it moved to AWS was quite a project and I have learned a lot. If anyone
wants to do that I would be willing to help. That is community.
I have volunteered at our church to help with their computer facilities.
They have a problem disposing with obsolete computers. They don't want to
have to buy the licenses to install Windows to give the computers away. I
suggested Ubuntu. Their reaction was "...what is that?" They had heard the
word but didn't know what it was. Their professional consultant supported
my recommendation and suggested they install Mint as it was closer to
Windows. They have done so and it is working fine.
Next meeting, 7/21/10, Holiday Inn Sports Bar, 7:00 pm??? Let's get
together and talk about what we are doing useful and how we can help each
other and the rest of the city.
