cron jobs in ubuntu

does anyone know how to do cron jobs? and anyone that does-do you know if
there are any special circumstances (like maybe it's not run by default in
ubuntu or something?) because I ran "ps | grep cron" and got nothing...

I'm not just going to help first off, i'm looking at this at the same time
