I was talking with the French LoCo guy in IRC tonight, and he told me
about a webcafé that they do. For three years they provided a free
internet access point at a music festival. Last summer's lineup:

Philippe said, "the festival provide the network and everything; we
provide the computers and the volunteers." This is a photo of the webcafé:

and this is inside: http://yoboy.fr/images/valorie/P1010192.JPG

I asked him how they got in touch with the organizers, and he said "the
IT of the festival love Ubuntu and free software; the first year they
ask mozilla to have a booth, mozilla ask us to share and do a webcafe,
since then, we have the booth and they love us and the service we
provide." And even "the fun part is they talk about us on other festival
organisors and now we are invited in 2 music festivals, perhaps next
year three.

He said, "it's a lot of work; this cost us some money too (material,
transport, food, tatoos and stickers), but it's cheaper than the
festival entrance, and we can see all the concerts."

He explained that they use two computers with xephyr to have 12
stations, and explained that xephyr is an xorg module to allow use
multiple desktops on one computer.

Wouldn't this be a kick? I think we'd get some people involved who don't
normally show up. AND we'd be exposing *buntu to a whole new audience.

Is anybody interested? Shall I investigate further and try to make some
contacts?
