[Ubuntu PA] receiving fax

I would like to receive fax messages using Ubuntu. I am using an US Robotics external fax/modem Sportster Model 0459 (00178600). It works OK with XP

I have downloaded Efax-gtk and now I don't know where to go.

Obviously I am new to Ubuntu and need hand holding.

I have DSL. I don't know where to look to find out if the 0459 has been accepted.

I have not found the setup menu that allows me to set parameters eg # of rings.
