I listened to Walter's talk on gathering LoCo support this evening - great presentation Walter, and thanks.

In keeping with Walter's Loco support modus operandi - During last Tuesday's monthly SMUG (Salem Macintosh, Users Group) meeting, I spoke with one of our members, Jim Campbell. Jim has been running Ubuntu for some time now, and was glad to hear there is a LoCo here in Salem. In fact Jim is this Saturdays teacher for SMUG, and will be talking about running OOo (OpenOffice.org) and LibreOffice on a Mac. Yep - sometimes we due depart from the norm...So please keep it a secret, and don't tell Apple...LOL.

For those of you with Apple gadgets who live around the Salem area, SMUG meets every second Tuesday of each month (except August), and sometimes the following Saturday at: Comfort Suites Airport (630 Hawthorne SE, Salem, OR). Anyone interested in knowing more about OOo/LibreOffice can attend this Saturday's free class.

SMUG Programs - are held second Tuesday of each month at 6:45pm to about 8:30pm.

SMUG Classes - are held the Saturday following Tuesday's program, and start at 10:00am to noon.

Hope soliciting Ubuntu's email list on SMUG's behalf, does not ruffle anyone's feathers - my thinking is since I'm soliciting SMUG on Ubuntu's behalf, it's kind of tit for tat. And so I apologise in advance, for any feather damage this may have caused.

Much thanks for everyone's support.

Sincerely

Phil. Wonderful idea! I will do everything I can to help! Also don't forget
that Unix people played a part in Linux, so include the Mac folks,
too. They might not realize what they have under the hood. And also
that Ubuntu runs on it.
I might try to organize something for Eugene. If someone can also
organize in Salem and in Portland that would be great. The more the
merrier!
