As followup on this, it looks like *mobile* contact syncing with u1 has been discontinued. Tbird contact syncing seems to be affected by a u1 system issue and possibly by some other bug affecting eds and ,couchdb, lp bug 872639. So i'm just gonna leave it alone for now, being as i know that i have all the relevant pkgs installed.

I'm able to see the local contacts db in Futon, but there doesn't seem to be anything there, which matches up with my experience of nothing syncing.

On a side note, Unity is *tremendously* better in 11.10. I'm having a blast using the freshly installed 11.10, if you haven't tried it yet, I assure you, the water's fine. :)
