Nice to see you checking in!
I am sure a lot of us have used a lot of different distros.  I mainly
use Ubuntu, because it is so easy to install and set up (though most are
generally very easy now days), and so much software is available for
Ubuntu.  And, I am most familiar with the Debian/Ubuntu setup, so I
don't have to re-learn the equivalent for things like:
sudo stop lightdm
Which I occasionally need, as I test some really unstable things
sometimes :)
