UbuntuOhio login dilema

hi, my name is richard.
         my friend put ubuntu on my windows based pc.  so pretty much, when
i boot my computer, i have an option to use ubuntu or windows.  well all is
fine, but when my friend installed it on my pc, he typed my username wrong,
so i am now unable to login at all.  is there a way to get past the login
screen so i can change my password?  thanks in advance
