What kind of new users do you envision taking this class?

Jonny GradeSchooler
Sally SoccerMom
Gabby GrandFather
Bobby BusinessSavvy
Winnie WindowsGeek

The reason I ask is this - the first three of these would, typically,
have less interest in how to drag and drop files, or add new users
and printers, and more interest in "how do I start the computer",
"how do I read my email", and "how do I get on the internet"
initially. Of course, AFTER they do those things, then there would
likely be an interest in "okay, I found this picture/music
file/recipe on the internet - how do I get my own copy of it" and
"now that I have a copy of it, how do I use it" sort of things.

It seems to me, and perhaps this is a bit naive, that it might be
worthwhile structuring the class around a fictional interaction with
a fictional (or real) student, going through the kinds of questions
that would come up, the challenges, and the methods by which one
would learn to solve the problems.
