UbuntuOhio Touchpad question?

I've got a dual core system with a touch pad always on with Kubuntu can you
tell me how to disable the touch pad.  Oh by the way when I see check the
battery life it says the cpu speed is 2 x 800 mhz system with it being in
the middle but I have a 2 X 1.6ghz system.  Is it only using what cpu it
needs or do i have to change the system somehow to make sure it uses both
1.6ghz processors?
