In the 'Restricted Drivers', the Atheros Hardware Access Layer (HAL) is in use.  When I try to enable the NVIDIA accelerated graphics drivers (latest cards), I receive the message 'The software source for the package nvidia-glx-new is not enabled'.  I looked and found that this package is not on the 7.10  install for my laptop.  Maybe it is on the Live Install CD somewhere, but I don't know where. I figured that if I could get the wireless going, I'd have half the battle licked, and could proceed further with the web at my fingertips, and not having to move back and forth between systems moving CDs.  Maybe I'm using the wrong method. So what you're saying is that if we get Nvidia GeForce 7000M going, that could possibly solve my wireless woes? Thanks for the help with it.
