Full disclosure:

This is more of any Open Source project suggestion for people to check out.
My company is in the process of deploying SCCM but we are no where near a
point where we need to be to use it's OS deployment functionality.

Enter FOG:

The company that I work for is also in the process of refreshing all our
desktop hardware in each of our hospitals, we're talking thousands of PCs
and laptops. Granted, I'm not really involved with the day to day
processes that our helpdesk uses but early this week I happended to notice
that one of our helpdesk employees was building these new PC's one at a
time and I kinda felt bad for them. Knowing there had to be a better way
to mass deploy images I stumbled on the FOG Project (
http://www.fogproject.org/).

Needless to say I build an Ubuntu VM with 1TB of storage running Ubuntu
Server 12.04 with FOG installed in an hour and had that same employee is
now imaging computers on the mass. If you are interesting a great open
source project for imaging computers check out FOG.

Fyi...one great advantage of FOG is that it uses PXE and a linux kernel.
As new PC hardware comes out just upgrade the linux kernel that the PC's
use to boot from PXE. =)

Check it out.
