Sorry that we have not responded to you question and we do promote linux
and open source but the issue that you are having is with VirtualBox and
not linux parse.  Have you found the VirtualBox irc channel (#vbox) on
freenode.  That is an excellent forum to ask questions about Virtualbox
and usually there are several developers of VirtualBox manning the
cheannel.  One thing that I would install on your guess OSs is the
VirtualBox guest agent.
