The convenient thing about installing Ubuntu on a separate drive is
that you do not have to much with the partitions of your primary drive
(not always fun, especially when the power goes out). However, keep in
mind that even though you're installing Ubuntu on a separate drive, it
will still install its own boot manager on the first drive.

You'll still be able to run Windows; when the machine starts, you'll
be given a choice between Ubuntu and Windows

If you reinstall Windows at some point, it will overwrite Ubuntu's
boot manager with its own -- you'll need to reinstall the Ubuntu Boot
manager again to get back into Ubuntu normally.

Other than that, no caveats from me. Good luck, and if you run into
problems, ask here or the forums.
