Greetings,

I will be presenting today's RUSLUG meeting at 9:00PM in the EIT Lab,
Engineering Building D-120.

Please see http://ruslug.rutgers.edu/w/PhotoDirections for directions.

The topic will be "Getting the most out of Gusty Gibbon".

Gutsy Gibbon is the latest release of the very popular Linux Distribution,
Ubuntu. Ubuntu has a reputation for being a popular choice for beginners
because it packages an easy to use desktop that can be installed from a
reliable live cd. Dell has chosen to ship Ubuntu Linux on their new PCs.

Details can be found here:

http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/ubuntu?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

I will be giving an overview of some compelling new features available in
Gutsy Gibbon, including the AppArmor security system, customized OS X
style UI effects with Compiz/Xgl and the realtime kernel. I will also
cover upgrade guidelines for current Ubuntu users.

I hope to also include time for questions. If you want to use an operating
system supporting advanced multimedia editing applications with realtime
support or high end graphics, this meeting is for you. Hope to see you
there.

John M. Santel
