For beginners who are worried about having to set up IRC clients the above route is certainly the easiest.  I'm highlighting it now because it seems to have been lost in the other discussions.  Simply click on that link, pick a user name, and enter #ubuntu-us-nc or #ubuntu-classroom as the room name.

I tried the web-based client last week and thought it was great!
