Matt,

I have had the same sort of problem on my desktop.  Seems to happen
when I get to a page in Firefox that does anything substantial with
Javascript, but that is just my hunch.  Mine doesn't ever go to the
black screen, however.  Once, I realized that I still had an SSH
session open into that machine that was still active.  I dug around a
little bit, but couldn't really find anything about what had happened.
 Most likely because I didn't know where to look.

Glad to see I am not the only one with the problem.  I haven't gotten
around to installing the debug package, but mean to over the next week
or so.

Let me know if you find anything or if you file a bug report.
