I see that XDMCP is not
secure. I was looking for a ssh base solution. Perhaps this will
work: VNC.
The target system needs to be configured to accept remote control. This
can be done via System|Preferences|Remote Desktop Preferences. The
default is not to allow remote access. On Sharing section, allow others
to view and/or control the desktop. On Security there are some options
that apply. For example, confirmation could be set on, but that would not
be appropriate if the target system was unattended. Or a password can be
required to access the system remotely.
When the Remote Desktop Preferences is set, the system can be accessed via
Applications|Internet|Remote Desktop Viewer.

I was able to connect between my laptop and server, but there were issues
seeing the refreshed screen. I am not sure if it was that one machine was
run gnome and the other was running kde. There appears to be remote
control. But the results of the remote requests are not seen by the
remote machine. Perhaps this due to the router settings. Anyway,
good luck with this.
