[ubuntu-us-mn] ubuntu-us-mn Digest, Vol 24, Issue 3

Hi Dan,

X-sessions are great, and sometimes it is the only thing that will
work. Another option is NX client and NX server from NoMachine.
There is an open source Linux version for the server version from
NoMachine and you can get the client on line--I used it on a Mac. I
used them all last year to get GUI access to my sever that was in a
locked room that I was not given a key to enter. NX uses a protocol
that is truly amazing. I've got DSL and when I worked on the server
from home it responded almost as if I were working on the computer in
front of me. Another nice feature is that, unlike VNC in which you
have to be logged in to the computer, with NX someone else can be
logged in or even no one--similar to X-sessons over ssh. Good luck,

David
