I missed the beginning of the convo but would this work for whatever
purpose it is to serve?
Ubuntu (and Linux^ in general) is a *virus- and hacker-resistant*
operating system. This is ensured by sanely separating user- and
administrator-related tasks. Furthermore, the system is kept
up-to-date along with *all* installed software, such as browsers,
office suites, and so on, while requiring *minimal* user input and
updates are installed *quickly*. Finally, the software development
community behind the operating system is *highly responsive* and
prompt to security threats.
^ GNU/Linux (footnote, to keep it simpler)
By the way, a copy of this could be sent to high-level UMD employees
and their IT dept since they have been trying to upgrade all their PCs
for who knows how much money. (I asked them if they had any migration
plans for linux; they said no.)
